Boston is a city poised to be truly great – yet it is weighed down by chronic social issues rooted in unresolved inequity.
We seek to disrupt systemic inequities in order to eliminate disparities. We believe that creating sustainable social solutions to address inequities requires both in-depth knowledge and direct experience from a diversity of community members. Strengthening community capacity is central to Higher Ground’s collective work and we collaborate with partners who share this commitment to equity for children and families.
Shondell Davis, Parent Leader
“I really feel like Higher Ground gives you a voice. I honestly believe that if it was not for Higher Ground that I would not have been able to be a part of the committees that I’m part of. Higher Ground gave me the opportunity as a parent for my voice to be heard. Higher Ground is a platform for you to be heard.”
Community Crossover Dialogues
In partnership with the NAACP Boston and the Commonwealth Seminar, Higher Ground co-hosts virtual gatherings that bring together more than 100 practitioners and advocates in a collective learning journey that explores the impact of racial inequities in Boston and potential solutions to them.
Our Focus Areas
We focus on challenges identified by community members. We leverage the many resources that exist in our partner schools and our community. We view these focus areas as interconnected – that’s why our approach is holistic and multi-faceted.
