Parents, partners and Higher Ground staff provide testimony in support of an updated Higher Ground and BPS agreement. Highlights include remarks from parents Mariana Botier, Carla Paredes, Lashaunda Watson and Higher Ground partners from the Surround Care Coalition including Shavonne Herrington at Union Capital Boston and Marissa Lehrman at Families First.
This May, Higher Ground’s Brandy Brooks was interviewed and discussed the issue of student chronic absenteeism numbers in Boston. “Often, there is more behind attendance issues than just students not wanting to go to school,” said Brandy Brooks, deputy director of the education- and housing-focused nonprofit Boston’s Higher Ground.
Higher Ground is the backbone organization for a promising collective impact approach to addressing student homelessness called the Family Led Stability Initiative.
